Mt Maculot (Grotto-Summit-Rockies)

Misfortune turned out as one great adventure. Mt. Maculot Reverse Traverse

There's always a special story after you climb one mountain. But this one is a not so ordinary (at least for us) A birthday climb they said. In our itinerary, We were supposed to Night Trek Mt. Maculot. We arrived at Batangas at 9pm. Went to the Brgy. authority to register but to our disappointment, they did not allowed us to do the night trek because the trails were destroyed by the past typhoons and. They said it's too dangerous to climb Maculot at night. So what we did was we had our socials outside the outpost hahaha. We almost had no sleep and at 4am, we started trekking and booyah! we cant find the trail baby. Sounds fun eh? No. :/ We were stuck sa bungad ng bundok trying to find the effin trail but we cant. It's too dark, steep and cold. Exhausted and disappointed, and loosing the hope to climb, the majority decided to go for a beach camp instead. But our guide went for scouting and later after, we heard shouting WOOP WOOP DITO! Hell yeah, we found the path going to the grotto. The fucking hagdan is sooooo tiring I had to stop to catch some breathe after each ascend. Ironically, we found the stairways to grotto hard and enjoyed the assault to summit haha but still the assault is kind of a bitter sweet. There were two rope segments where i got my elbow bruised. and the talahib were mean. Thanks for the small cuts, they're cute anyway!

Socials at Brgy Outpost.

We cant find the trail. That one is clearly not the trail.

Rope segmet and unending assault to summit. :)

Fast forward--
We arrived at the summit took a little rest then proceeded to the campsite and had our lunch. Then of course, THE ROCKIES. All the bruises, cuts, tired feet, I mean all the exhaustion were wiped away when we got to see such an amazing views from above. It's scary up there because of the strong wind and nakakalula talaga pero sobrang ganda. The view of Taal lake and Volcano is such a gem. The Tilili. :)

I can hear a tiny "sound" whenever i bend my right knee, descending to the jump off. But all in all , It was a successful and and one hell full of adventures climb. Thank you Lord for guiding us in every step, for keeping us safe through out the climb. I know there's a reason why you did not let us climb the mountain during that night. Thank you for being with us in our every climbs. Thank you for the wonderful views.
Salamat sa mga nakasama ko, and to our guide sir Joey Vergara, who had to make a new path because the old trail is not passable.
Till next climb, Ka Tilili. Masaya lang Tayo! Tuloy lang ang Atin. :)

Pico De Loro

My first climb was in Mt. Palay-palay , or popularly known as Pico De Loro. This mountain is located in Ternate, Cavite (2-3 hrs travel from Manila) It was just actually a fun climb with friends and other peeps from Marinduque who are already climbing mountains for years already.

The meet up was in coastal terminal bound for Ternate Cavite. Some of the faces in this pic are new to me. But they are happy people so i felt comfy na din.

Which is okay naman because it's a night trek. after a bus ride, it's a trike away from DENR (jump off). The registration fee is 20php. It almost did, actually. First twenty minutes of the trekking were tolerable and i can still ride on their jokes pa but after that naramdaman ko na namamanhid yung legs ko natahimik na ako haha. So I did an unprofessional self massage, (choss!) good thing nawala :)

Along the trail, we met other mountaineers who did a dayhike and now are descending back to jump off. Na amaze ako kasi napaka approachable nila, greeting you "ingat sir, ingat mam" and i also learned some mountaineering terms. :)

reached the summit at past 10pm. pitched tents, cooked dinner and did the socials! the girl beside me is my friend and tent mate grace.

woke up early to ascend to the summit.

summit pic! Phil. flag

The monolith. natakot ako kaya di ako naka punta. Sayang :( but there's always a next time pa naman. Sabi nga nila, "The mountain will always be there".

We descended at exactly I-cant-remember but here's our fresh na pic after a long trek

Maiintindihan mo 'to pag naranasan mo.

Ano nakukuha mo dyan? Nagpapagod kalang.
These are the annoying questions that I often get. Like, fuck you all people for thinking that I cant make it because I’m too small for mountaineering. I may not be the strongest, but I know I can make it to the summit. And if you don’t understand why I’m into it, Shut up for you know nothing aside from criticizing people who loves outdoor. In the mountain, your status doesn't matter people will not rate you through your bank account. People up there are equally rich in nature's grace, and all are hungry for adventures where only nature can fill.
There are no paper works, no traffic, it’s the most relaxed place a stressed person can stay. I’m with the happiest people on earth and we are worry free. No, we are actually free. I’m doing something that you cant do, something that you’re afraid to do. Yes I’m taking risk, but risking is just a beautiful thing. I’m seeing things personally that the only way you could see these breathtaking things is through pictures. But I am feeling them, touching them, witnessing them with my own eyes. I’m next to flying. I am actually flying. I am kissing the beauty of God’s creations. I’m with the nature and you’re on your computer screen liking my summit pictures. If you still don’t understand, Shut up. Shut up. Shut up.

---In mountain, there are no broken hearts. At least for me. (Just broken legs)
